Harvest Bounty
Today, we picked up our first share of our Shared Harvest Winter CSA. We received loads of locally grown vegetables and some apples. My mind has been racing to figure out what I’ll be cooking in the weeks ahead.
Here’s what we got: beets, cabbage, kale, celery, squash, pumpkin, broccoli, cauliflower, red potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, onions (red and while), leeks, parsley, kohlrabi, peppers (sweet and hot), fennel, turnips, lettuce, daikon, dried beans, and Matsu apples. All I can say is WOW!
If that sounds delicious to you, Gretta still has some two month shares available for November and December in the Shared Harvest CSA.
My challenge for the week is to start cooking and eating the vegetables. Howard has further challenged me to minimize grocery shopping and feed us with what we get from the Shared Harvest CSA, our Chestnut Farms meat CSA share, and our bountiful freezer.
