My name is Betsy, and I live outside of Boston, in Lexington, Massachusetts. By day, I’m a software engineer, but outside of work, I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. I love to cook. It relaxes me. I love to experiment in the kitchen, trying new techniques and new foods. It’s a completely different creative process from writing software.  This blog blends these two parts of my life: the cooking and the technology (it is the internet after all).

You know how some people are obsessed with shoes?  You might say that I’m obsessed with cookbooks.  My collection includes at least 400.  The picture at the top of this blog are two shelves of my own library.  The cookbooks provide plenty of inspiration.  I sometimes follow the recipes, but, except for baking, I usually tinker.

Some of the recipes I’ll post have evolved over many years of trial and error, and no longer resemble the original recipe I tried. However, I will credit the original source whenever I know what it is.
